Film making but with a unique twist - all teams must work together to create the news of 2030 and present an out of this world newscast…
Newscast 2030 combines creativity in script writing, use of props, set design and building – in this challenge clear communication and time management are key in order to create a seamless newscast. Each team represents part of the news team such as sport, weather, finance and city gossip etc and the newscast must air at 20.30 PROMPT!
Once the teams have chosen their departments they will be given a specific prop to feature in their news bulletin. They will need to create a story around that prop to cover in a 30-60 second piece to camera. Scenarios we have had in the past include; one team covering the intergalactic Olympic Games on Mars with space hoppers and a Darth Vader costume, another in Moscow with a Straight Jacket and another at the Arctic Circle with a penguin suit!
Teams will put their creative skills to use as they will need to create the dialogue as well as design and build the set to support their news story. We supply a well stocked set workshop with backdrops and a great range of equipment to create their own bespoke sets. In addition we will supply a vast selection of generic props for them to use for the filming.
As the teams come together to present the news at 20.30 an anchorman will be on hand to tie the teams bulletins together as he/she takes them back and forward to the various correspondents around the world… and Milky Way!
At the end of a successful filming session the teams will depart and we will edit all the bulletins together to create the finished newscast. The group can then view their collaborative efforts later that evening, at a meeting the next day or when they return to the office.
